President of the Federal Republic of Somalia,Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, was warmly received upon his arrival at Garaad Wiil-Waal International Airport in the city of Jigjiga, where he held high-level meetings with the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, and the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The meetings focused on strengthening regional cooperation and addressing key security and political developments in the Horn of Africa. The leaders exchanged views on enhancing collective efforts to promote peace, stability, and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the region, including security threats and political uncertainties.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized Somalia’s commitment to advancing diplomatic engagement and regional dialogue as a means of safeguarding national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He underscored the importance of close collaboration among neighboring countries to foster economic integration, boost trade, and support long-term development across the Horn of Africa.

The discussions also highlighted the need to expand economic cooperation, improve connectivity, and promote shared development initiatives that benefit the peoples of the region. Somalia reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Ethiopia, Djibouti, and other regional partners to strengthen mutual interests and collective prosperity.

During his stay in Jigjiga, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is also scheduled to participate in the inauguration of several development projects implemented in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia. These projects are expected to contribute positively to regional economic growth, service delivery, and cross-border cooperation.

The visit reflects Somalia’s proactive diplomatic approach and its growing role in regional affairs, as the country continues to rebuild, strengthen international partnerships, and contribute to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
