Iraq Condemns Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland, Upholds Somalia’s Territorial Integrity
The Republic of Iraq has strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of what it termed “Somaliland,” describing the move as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Iraq emphasized that this step contravenes international law and the United Nations Charter.
In a statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government stressed that, as the current chair of the Arab League, such unilateral actions undermine regional security and stability and pose a threat to peace in the Horn of Africa.
Iraq reiterated its firm position on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations and called on the international community and global institutions to take a clear stance against illegal measures to uphold international law.
