Somalia’s Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi visits IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh
The Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today toured the headquarters of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), where he was received by the Secretary-General of the coalition, General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in combating extremist ideology, eliminating terrorism, and enhancing joint coordination between Somalia and the coalition. Discussions underscored the importance of unified efforts among member states in addressing the evolving threats posed by terrorist organizations and radical networks.
Minister Fiqi highlighted Somalia’s ongoing operations against terrorist groups and emphasized the critical role of international partnerships in supporting stabilization efforts, capacity building, and long-term security sector development.
The visit was accompanied by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Somali Embassy in Riyadh, Mr. Abdiasis Abdirahman Hassan, Somalia’s Representative to the IMCTC, Brigadier General Abdirahman Turyare, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Somali Embassy.
Somalia is among the founding member states of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, reflecting its active and committed role in global and regional efforts to combat terrorism. The visit further reaffirms Somalia’s dedication to strengthening multilateral cooperation in the fight against violent extremism and promoting lasting peace and stability.
