President Hassan Sheikh Attends Inauguration of Re-Elected Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dodoma
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia on Monday attended the official inauguration ceremony of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who was re-elected for another term. The event took place in the capital city, Dodoma, and was attended by several Heads of State, regional leaders, and dignitaries from across Africa and beyond.
President Hassan Sheikh’s presence at the ceremony underscored Somalia’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and regional cooperation with Tanzania. The Somali leader joined other African leaders in congratulating President Samia Suluhu for her re-election, which reflects the confidence and trust of the Tanzanian people in her leadership.
In his remarks during the event, President Hassan Sheikh emphasized the long-standing ties of friendship and partnership between Somalia and Tanzania, noting that both nations share a common vision for peace, development, and regional integration within the East African Community. He reiterated Somalia’s readiness to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, education, security, and infrastructure development.
“The relationship between our two nations is built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared desire for a peaceful and prosperous region,” President Hassan Sheikh stated. “We look forward to working closely with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the government of Tanzania to advance common goals at both regional and continental levels.”
He also extended his best wishes to President Suluhu, urging her to continue pursuing Tanzania’s development agenda and contributing to the realization of collective African aspirations under the frameworks of the African Union and regional organizations.
The inauguration ceremony brought together leaders from across Africa, representatives of international organizations, and members of the diplomatic corps. The event celebrated President Suluhu’s historic leadership, as she remains the first woman to serve as Tanzania’s Head of State.
Somalia and Tanzania have in recent years revitalized bilateral relations, with both governments working on enhancing cooperation in key areas including maritime security, trade, and education.
