President Laftagareen visits Hudur and Wajid to assess drought-affected communities in Bakool.
The President of the South West State of Somalia, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen), conducted an official working visit to parts of Bakool Region, specifically the districts of Hudur and Wajid, to assess the prevailing humanitarian situation and the urgent needs facing local communities.
Responding to a recent early warning issued by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the South West State, President Laftagareen delivered preliminary relief assistance to residents of the affected districts as part of efforts to address the ongoing drought crisis.
During the visit, the President issued a strong appeal and urgent call to humanitarian organizations, the Federal Government of Somalia, and Somali communities both at home and abroad, urging them to swiftly provide effective humanitarian aid to save lives and livestock. He warned that the drought poses a serious threat and, if not urgently addressed, could lead to widespread hunger and loss of life.
President Laftagareen emphasized several key points, including the urgent need for immediate humanitarian intervention in the region; the importance of accelerating responses by humanitarian and charitable organizations in line with the appeal issued by the South West State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; and the responsibility of Somalis everywhere to contribute to supporting communities affected by the drought.
In his concluding remarks, the President reaffirmed the commitment of the South West State Government to continue its efforts in responding to emergency situations and delivering aid to the hardest-hit areas affected by the drought.
