Ministers of Somalia and Djibouti meet to strengthen education cooperation

The Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Learning of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, officially welcomed the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Djibouti, Dr. Nabil Mohamed Ahmed, upon his arrival at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu for a formal visit.

Dr. Nabil Mohamed Ahmed is participating in the 3rd National Education Conference, which focuses on improving the quality of education, strengthening regional collaboration among countries, and accelerating the implementation of Somalia’s strategic education initiatives.

The warm reception of the Djiboutian minister highlights the close brotherly relations, cooperation, and mutual understanding between the governments of Somalia and Djibouti, particularly in the fields of education, knowledge exchange, and human capital development.

During the summit, both countries are expected to explore opportunities to expand collaboration in curriculum development, teacher training, higher education exchange programs, and joint initiatives aimed at raising educational standards across the region.

Officials emphasized that fostering regional cooperation in education is a cornerstone for sustainable development and for equipping young people with the skills necessary to drive economic growth and social progress. The Somali Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to deepening partnerships with neighboring countries to ensure that Somalia’s education sector continues to advance in quality, accessibility, and relevance.
