Auditors from the Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia are participating in a study and professional development program in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye. The program is organized as part of a cooperation initiative between the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia and the Turkish Court of Accounts and will run for one week.

The program was officially inaugurated by senior leadership from the Turkish Court of Accounts and the Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The opening ceremony underscored the strong institutional partnership between the two supreme audit institutions and their shared commitment to strengthening public financial oversight.

During the opening sessions, both sides highlighted the importance of cooperation between supreme audit institutions, emphasizing experience-sharing and knowledge exchange as key tools for improving the quality, effectiveness, and professionalism of public auditing.

Speaking at the opening of the program, the Deputy Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdijamal Ismail Mohamed, expressed his appreciation to the Turkish Court of Accounts and the Government of Türkiye for their continued support and constructive cooperation with the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia. He noted that the training program will play a direct role in enhancing audit investigations and strengthening the protection and oversight of public resources.

The capacity development initiative aims to equip Somali auditors with advanced skills, modern audit methodologies, and best practices, contributing to improved transparency, accountability, and sound financial management within public institutions.

The Office of the Auditor General reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and investing in professional capacity-building as part of broader efforts to safeguard public resources and promote good governance in Somalia.
