Somalia Thanks Over 70 Countries for Firm Support of Its Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity
The Federal Government of Somalia has expressed its appreciation to countries that sent official messages of solidarity and publicly reaffirmed their support for Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity. In a press statement issued by the Federal Republic of Somalia, the government confirmed that more than seventy countries have clearly and unequivocally stood with Somalia, with their positions reaching as far as the United Nations Security Council.
According to the statement, several countries played a prominent role in providing political and diplomatic backing to Somalia, including Pakistan, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom. These nations were highlighted for their consistent engagement and vocal support in international forums, particularly during recent discussions concerning Somalia’s sovereignty.
The statement further noted that a wide range of international organizations and multilateral institutions also expressed unified support for Somalia’s national sovereignty. Among them were the United Nations, the African Union (AU), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the Arab League, and the European Union, all of which reaffirmed their commitment to respecting Somalia’s unity and internationally recognized borders.
At the same time, the statement drew attention to the absence of some neighboring countries, notably Ethiopia and Kenya, from the list of states that publicly declared their support. This omission has raised questions among observers regarding their positions on safeguarding Somalia’s territorial integrity, especially during what the government described as a sensitive and critical period.
The Federal Government of Somalia reiterated its firm commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. It extended gratitude to all international partners who demonstrated solidarity and called on the global community to further strengthen its support for Somalia’s stability, peace, and statehood.
