The Banadir Regional Administration has announced that its Emergency Response and Health departments have fully prepared adequate vehicles and personnel, all placed on high alert to respond to any emergency situations, as the city of Mogadishu prepares to hold elections tomorrow.
The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), stated that the local government has made comprehensive preparations, including the deployment of firefighting trucks, ambulances, and well-trained emergency response staff. He emphasized that these services will operate around the clock, 24 hours a day, to ensure the safety and well-being of residents of the capital who are set to participate in the electoral process.
Mayor Muungaab further noted that the readiness measures are part of the administration’s broader responsibility to safeguard lives and property during major public events, particularly elections, which require heightened preparedness and coordination among all emergency services.
In addition, the Banadir Regional Administration once again reminded citizens to use the emergency short code 991 whenever they require urgent assistance, stressing that the hotline will be fully operational throughout the election period.
The Governor reaffirmed that the Mogadishu Local Government remains steadfast in its commitment to serving and protecting the public at all times. He called on residents of Mogadishu to take part in the elections peacefully and responsibly, underscoring the importance of civic participation conducted in a calm and orderly manner.
The meeting on preparedness was attended by Deputy Governors responsible for Security and Political Affairs, Public Works, directors of various departments, and other senior officials from the Banadir Regional Administration and the Mogadishu Local Government, highlighting the collective effort to ensure a safe and smooth election day in the capital.
