SoDMA holds a high-level meeting in Mogadishu to tackle Somalia’s ongoing drought.
The Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), chaired by Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle, convened a high-level meeting in Mogadishu today to discuss responses to the ongoing drought affecting Somalia.
The meeting, held at SoDMA’s National Emergency Operations Center, was attended by ministers from federal member states, officials from the Benadir Regional Administration, the Prime Minister’s office, and other federal and state-level leaders.
Discussions focused on assessing the drought situation, its impact on communities, and coordinating rapid responses to meet the urgent needs of affected populations.
Speaking at the opening, SoDMA Chair Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle emphasized the importance of prompt humanitarian assistance to save lives and reduce the disaster’s impact, calling for collaboration and unity among all relevant agencies.
He added that SoDMA will continue coordinating relief efforts and strengthen partnerships to ensure effective aid reaches the most vulnerable communities severely affected by the drought.
