Somalia and China mark 65 Years of diplomatic relations as Somali Trade Minister Highlights Investment Opportunities in Beijing

The Minister of Commerce and Industry of Somalia, Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, on Thursday participated in the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Somalia and the People’s Republic of China, held in Beijing, the Chinese capital.

The event, organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in China, celebrated the long-standing history and deep-rooted cooperation between the two nations. Discussions during the ceremony emphasized the continued strengthening of diplomatic ties, as well as expanding collaboration in trade, industry, and economic development.

Speaking at the event, Minister Jamaal Mohamed Hassan underscored the importance of the enduring partnership between Somalia and China, noting that the relationship has contributed significantly to Somalia’s development efforts over the decades. He reaffirmed the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.

During his stay in Beijing, the Minister also took part in a high-level business forum that brought together more than 300 companies from China and other countries. At the forum, Minister Jamaal delivered a key address highlighting Somalia’s vast investment potential across sectors such as trade, manufacturing, infrastructure, and natural resources. He outlined ongoing reforms and initiatives by the Federal Government aimed at improving the business environment and attracting international investment.

The visit reflects Somalia’s continued efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy, promote foreign direct investment, and deepen partnerships with global partners, including the People’s Republic of China.
