The Second National Monitoring and Evaluation Conference officially opened today in Mogadishu, organized by the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of Somalia.
The event brought together senior government officials, international experts, and specialist advisors in monitoring and evaluation. This year’s conference is held under the theme: “Strengthening the National Evaluation System to Accelerate the National Transformation Plan 2025–2029.”
The discussions focus on advancing Somalia’s national monitoring and evaluation systems and transforming reliable data and assessment outcomes into effective policies and decisions that support the implementation of the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029).
Mohamed Shire, Director-General of the Ministry of Planning, stated that the conference will examine ways to strengthen the integration of monitoring data into decision-making processes, helping government institutions enhance performance and improve service delivery.
The conference will also review progress in developing the national evaluation framework, improving oversight of government programs, and generating practical recommendations to accelerate the execution of the National Transformation Plan in the coming years.
Officials highlight that the gathering is a key step toward establishing a robust and evidence-driven monitoring and evaluation ecosystem capable of guiding Somalia’s development agenda.
