Dhobley Police seize illegally hunted wildlife and confiscate vehicles involved in poaching operations.

The Dhobley District Police in the Lower Jubba region have recently intensified operations targeting illegal wildlife hunting and other activities harmful to the environment. Over the past few days, authorities successfully intercepted a large number of wild animals that were being illegally transported into Dhobley city.

The seized animals were being transported in vehicles operated by individuals engaged in poaching and deforestation activities. Police also confiscated the vehicles used in these illegal operations, further strengthening the enforcement of environmental and wildlife protection laws.

In a public demonstration aimed at discouraging future violations, the Dhobley Police publicly burned the illegally hunted meat, sending a strong message to local communities that such activities will not be tolerated.

Colonel Abdulkadir Hassan Abdi, the Police Commander of Dhobley District, emphasized that all individuals involved in wildlife poaching will face the full force of the law. “We will ensure that anyone caught harming the environment or engaging in illegal hunting faces strict legal consequences. Our mission is to protect wildlife and the natural resources of the region,” he said.

Local authorities, including Dhobley District Commissioner Hassan Abdi Xaashi, stressed that any activity threatening the environment will be met with strict enforcement measures. “We will not allow practices that harm our ecosystems. Anyone involved in such activities will be held accountable,” he stated.

This crackdown forms part of a broader initiative across Jubbaland to prohibit illegal hunting and conserve wildlife populations. Police in Dhobley continue to conduct regular operations to apprehend those engaged in unlawful wildlife trade, aiming to protect both the environment and community safety.

The authorities also called on local residents to support conservation efforts and report any illegal hunting activity, reinforcing the message that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
