Somalia’s health minister opens high-level conference on strengthening healthcare system

The Minister of Health and Social Care of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Aden, today officially opened a high-level conference focused on the funding and strengthening of Somalia’s healthcare system.

The conference, considered a key step toward improving and modernizing the country’s health sector, was attended by the Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Guuleed Abdijaliil; health ministers from Somalia’s Federal Member States and Banaadir Region; international partners supporting Somalia’s health development; heads of ministry departments; and other key stakeholders.

During the event, participants focused on unifying efforts, enhancing cooperation, and implementing a sustainable financing framework to ensure accessible, high-quality healthcare services reach all Somali citizens.

The conference aims to strengthen collaboration between federal and state authorities, streamline investment strategies, and promote long-term improvements in service delivery across the Somali healthcare system.
