Jubbaland, WFP agree to strengthen coordination on upcoming five-year strategy
Jubbaland’s Ministry of Planning held a high-level meeting in Kismayo with WFP Deputy Country Director Marco Selva to discuss the agency’s upcoming five-year operations plan in the region. Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination and ensure all programmes align with Jubbaland’s development priorities and community needs. Minister Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed said the talks mark an important step toward enhancing partnership and delivering impactful development initiatives across the state.
The Minister of Planning, Investment, and International Cooperation of Jubbaland, accompanied by members of the Jubbaland Cabinet and other senior officials, met today at Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan International Airport in Kismayo with the Deputy Head of Operations of the World Food Programme (WFP), Marco Selva, and his delegation.
The meeting focused on discussions about the five-year development plan that WFP will implement across Jubbaland. Both sides emphasized the importance of aligning WFP activities with the priorities of the Jubbaland Government’s Development Plan, ensuring that international interventions directly reflect the needs of local communities.
During the talks, Deputy WFP Representative Marco Selva expressed satisfaction with the productive discussions and highlighted the commitment of both parties to work jointly on development programs in Jubbaland. He emphasized that the collaboration would ensure that WFP initiatives are effectively coordinated with government priorities, creating sustainable and community-focused outcomes.
