Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim on Tuesday held discussions with a senior delegation from the Netherlands, led by Dr. Marielle van Multenburg, the Head of the Humanitarian Aid Department.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the agencies of Somalia and the Netherlands, particularly in the areas of disaster prevention, management, and aiding those affected by climate change-induced disasters.
In related news, Commissioner Moallim met with Meciej Popowski, the Director-General of the European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations at the EU Commission to discuss a collaborative approach to addressing the impacts of Climate Change, including issues such as droughts and floods.
SoDMA presented the relief and assistance extended to communities affected by Climate Change, discussed challenges in preventing aid diversion, and covered strengthening disaster recovery, developing prevention plans, and delivering basic services.
