Somali National Army Danab commandos and Jubbaland forces repel Al-Shabaab Attack, Kill Militants and seize weapons in lower Juba operation

Somali National Army (SNA) Danab Commandos, in coordination with forces from the Jubbaland State, have successfully repelled an attack carried out by Al-Shabaab militants in the Kudhaa area of Lower Juba region, security officials confirmed.

According to military sources, the militants launched the assault in the early hours of the morning, targeting positions held by government forces. The joint forces responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a coordinated operation that lasted several hours and continued into the following day.

Officials said the operation concluded with a decisive victory for government forces after the militants were surrounded and neutralized. A significant number of Al-Shabaab fighters were killed during the fighting, including senior operatives involved in planning the attack.

The joint forces later presented the bodies of the militants to national media, along with military vehicles, weapons, and ammunition that were seized during the operation. The captured equipment is believed to have been intended for use in further attacks in the region.

Commanders leading the operation told National Media outlets that the success was the result of close coordination, timely intelligence, and sustained pressure on militant hideouts. They emphasized that the operation dealt a heavy blow to Al-Shabaab’s operational capacity in Lower Juba.

The Somali Federal Government and Jubbaland authorities have repeatedly stressed their commitment to ongoing military operations aimed at weakening Al-Shabaab and restoring lasting security in liberated areas. The Kudhaa operation is part of broader efforts to stabilize Lower Juba and protect civilians from militant violence.

Security operations are expected to continue in surrounding areas as forces pursue remaining elements of the group and work to prevent future attacks.
