Unidentified gunmen from Somalia’s separatist administration of Somaliland hijacked a bus in Borame town, kidnapping vehicle’s driver, residents and officials said.
The gunmen put a gun on driver’s head and drove the bus towards Somaliland border along Ethiopia amid the vehicle was hired by Somaliland’s ministry of finance. The gunmen are believed to have links with local militants led by Suldaan Waber a well known clan leader in Awdal region.
The Suldan and his militia have been fighting against Somaliland administration since 2014 and recently raided Somaliland officials in Awdal and elsewhere in Somaliland. .
