A military court in Somali regional state of Puntland has sentenced more than 43 Alshabaab militants to death.
The militants were captured during an offensive with Somali army in the Puntland regional state on mid march this year.
Puntland regional state of Somalia military court judge Abdullahi Hersi Elmi has confirmed the sentenced to the media shortly after the ruling on Saturday.
He said out of 45 militants prosecuted in the military court in the state, 43 of them were sentenced to death for their role in the fighting and two others ruling were withheld due to their age factor.
The sentenced Alshabaab militants have accepted committing the crime and waging war on the regional state on behalf of the armed group to “liberate it from apostatesâ€
More than 24 soldiers and over 200 alshabaab militants were killed during the fighting on March that lasted more than two weeks.
