African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Ethiopia National Defence Forces troops stationed in Dinsoor Forward Operating Bases (FOB) led by Battalion Commander, Col. Berhanu Kitesa, provided free medical care and essential food items to residents of Dinsoor town in the Bay region.
105 vulnerable families living in the district benefitted from the relief aid.
ATMIS in a statement said this is part of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) to strengthen relations between the military and local communities.
In January this year, ATMIS distributed vital food and non-food items to vulnerable families in Beletweyne, central Somalia.
More than 650 families severely impacted by the El Nino-induced floods, benefitted from essential items including wheat flour, sugar, rice, cooking oil, blankets, and plastic sheets.
The African Union Peace Mission has significantly been participating in Somalia’s government and International humanitarian efforts to help the Somali population who have adversely affected by natural calamities including the recent El-Nino floods that has sparked huge displacement of people.
