The Mogadishu regional forces carried out security operations in some districts in Mogadishu aimed to prevent future attacks and to bring down the increasing civilian killings in recent days.
The operation, which seems to be part of Somalia’s efforts to maintain security in the region, involves inspecting public and private vehicles as well as questioning persons.
Some of the police officers said the operations will continue until they successfully secure the city and encouraged residents to understand that maintaining security in the city is a collective responsibility and that both locals and security agencies need to collaborate.
District commissioners warned people to not rent their houses to suspected Al-Shabaab members or the government would prosecute them for failing to comply with the directives.
