The body of Chinese citizen killed last week in Mogadishu hotel attack has reached home in Jinan, the capital of east china Shandong province on Sunday.

More than 1,000 people, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Shandong provincial government and the armed police force attended the funeral ceremony of   Mr. Zhang Nan.

The deceased served in a detachment in Shandong’s Linyi City before he was sent to Somalia to be a security officer in the Chinese embassy last year.

More than 15 people lost their lives and over 20 others were wounded when a lorry laden with explosives was detonated at the gate of luxurious Jazeera Palace hotel in Mogadishu on 26thJune.

Armed group Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the attack on the hotel near the vicinity of the international airport which also host key diplomatic missions such as China, Qatar, Kenya and Egypt.
