Somalia Appoints New NISA, Police & Prison Chiefs

The Somali Cabinet on Monday appointed Hussein Osman Hussein, Bashir Ahmed Mohamed and Bashir Mohamed Jama as the new commanders of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Police and Prisons forces respectively.

The appointment was made after members of the cabinet have convened an emergency meeting in the capital Mogadishu.

Mr. Hussein was the Acting Minister for Health.

The cabinet has also appointed Mr. Abdi Sheikh Ahmed as the new Director General of the National Communications Agency.

Both NISA and the Police forces have been without commanders since October 29, 2017, when their bosses have been dismissed following the two major terror attacks in Mogadishu on 14th and 28th October 2018.
