Jubbaland State President Ahmed Islam Madoobe on Wednesday issued a decree banning opposition Members of Parliament from travelling out of the administrative capital Kismayu, Radio Dalsan reports.
Madoobe had earlier Wednesday met with several opposition Mps before issuing the travel ban.
Radio Dalsan reporter in Kismayu says notifications have been put at the Kismayu airport and police alerted.
The move come a day after the arrest of an MP spearheading the ousting of Madoobe cabinet.
Political temperatures have been record high in the southern Southern Somalia state since opposition Mps started plotting a vote of no confidence against Madoobe cabinet.
Last week MP Ahmed Abdi Hassan Tajir collected signatures of at least 40 Mps to enable him table a vote of no comfortable motion in the regional Parliament.
In a move said to have been ordered by Madoobe the MP was stripped off his immunity and later arrested for allegedly giving false information about the cabinet.
Five MPs fled Kismayo after Madoobe launched a crackdown on opposition members of criticizing his administration of incompetence and nepotism
