World Parliament Speakers Summit opens in Islamabad, Somalia represented
The 7th Annual World Parliament Speakers Summit officially opened today in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Somalia is represented at the summit by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Sadia Yaasiin Haaji Samatar, accompanied by a delegation of parliamentarians and Somalia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Sheikh Noor Mohamed Hassan.
This year’s summit focuses on peace, stability, and development, and it brings together high-level delegations from parliaments around the world.
During the opening session, Deputy Speaker Sacdiya Yaasiin Xaaji Samatar addressed participants, conveying the message of the Federal Government of Somalia.
She highlighted the importance of the summit for the international community and emphasized this year’s theme on peace, stability, and development. She also encouraged stronger cooperation among global parliaments to achieve sustainable progress.
The summit provides an important platform for parliamentary leaders to discuss issues related to development, security, and international collaboration.
