President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and a delegation he was leading have today landed in Garowe, the capital of Puntland, to attend a colourful ceremony to mark the 4th anniversary of Puntland’s Abdiweli Gaas rule.
The President and his delegation were highly welcomed at the airport by senior officials of the federal government, officials from the Puntland state, community elders and other members of the public.
The Puntland state administration has been doing preparations for the President’s arrival for the last one week and the main streets of Garowe were decorated with green leaves and photos of the president with the words “Mr President, welcome to the aroma of Puntland and the interest of the people and the country.â€
Before leaving for Garowe, President Mohamed has laid the foundation stone of Hawa Tako Technical Institute in Mogadishu’s Hamarweyne district. The institute was in the past a famous primary school named after the prominent Somali nationalist who lived in the early 20th century but was destroyed after the collapse of the Somali central government in 1991.
The president said that the institute is meant to equip youth with practical skills that can help them earn a living.
