A delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the 12th World Urban Forum, an international summit focused on urbanization and global development challenges.
The delegation is led by the Second Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Abdisalan Abd Ali, and includes key Somali officials such as the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Elmi Mahmoud Nur, and the Governor of Banadir Region, Yusuf Hussein Jimale “Madaale,” who also serves as the Mayor of Mogadishu.
Throughout the forum, which will run from November 4 to November 8, 2024, discussions will center on sustainable urban development, addressing pressing global challenges, and exploring solutions for the future of cities.
The Somali delegation is also expected to hold private meetings with Egyptian officials to explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties between the two nations.
This forum serves as a platform for governments, policymakers, and experts to exchange ideas and strategies on urban issues, with a particular focus on creating more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities.
