A photo of the Cecafa Championship wonder boys the Ocean Stars using the public transport tri-cycles “Bajjaj” has triggered a nationwide outcry the day the team returned back home after a brilliant show in the tournament finals.
The photo shows the players boarding Bajjajs on the streets of Mogadishu outside a hotel they had been booked in.
Mogadishu Mayor Abdirahaman Osman “Yarisow” was prompt to react to the public outrage posting on his Facebook that action will be taken against whoever let the players use the Bajjaj.
“I am very sorry what happened that our players used a Bajjaj . We will investigate the matter” Osman said in his post.
The Mayor said that the Banaadir Regional Administration had organised to host the team upon its return from Bujumbura.
“BRA prepared buses and arranged to welcome the heroes and booked them at the Sahafi Hotel for a week. We will investigate who allowed them to use the bajjaj” he said referring to a fleet of buses recently donated by the Qatar government.
“It´s very sad that top government officials use bullet proof vehicles while our hero players are using Bajjaj. Its unfortunate” Abdiaziz Ibrahim the Spokesman Internal Security who was in Bujumbura for the finals  said.
A source has told Radio Dalsan that Somalia Football Federation officials are now under investigation after the photos made rounds on social media.
The Ocean Stars had earlier arrived at the Aden Abdulleh Airport and welcomed by the Prime Minister Hassan Khaire among other leaders.
Mogadishu residents lined up on the streets of the city to welcome the under 17 national team that made history by playing in a major regional tournament final for the first time in more than 30 years.
