Somalia’s Security Minister Mohamed Ahmed (Doodishe) who is receiving treatment abroad following Hotel Villa Rays has issued a statement about the fight against Al-Shabaab to liberate Galmudug and Hir Shabelle.
The minister commended the operations of the army which saw the liberation of the towns of Harardere and Galcad, saying the militants will be weeded out of the country.
“The liberation of Harardhere district is another historic success, the success of the armed forces and the social defence forces in recent months in Galmudug and Hirshabeelle areas means that the leadership power of Khawarijta; Political, economic and military has suffered great damage,” said Security Minister Doodishe.
“Also, these achievements are a testimony of how the cooperation between the government and the Somali community, and the implementation of the policy of economic sanctions, the war of thought and the media (Strategy of Destruction of the Enemy) carried out against the militants played a significant role in the military success of the armed forces,” he added,
Somalia’s security minister Mohamed Ahmed broke his leg following the Alshabaab attack which claimed the lives of nine people and wounded 47 others on October 2022.
Among those wounded include government officials among others.
Al-Shabaab has been trying to overthrow the government for more than 15 years and regularly attacks civilian and military targets.
