Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has on Tuesday inspected and assessed the humanitarian situation of Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs) in Kismayo town.
The Prime Minister, who was flanked by the ambassadors of Türkiye and China to Somalia, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and Jubbaland State leader Ahmed Madobe visited the makeshift camps of the IDPs who have been displaced by the ongoing devastating floods in the country.
The PM and his delegation listened to the plights of the families residing in the camps and promised the government’s efforts to support them during these difficult moments.
He called on international humanitarian agencies to expedite their intervention and help the families ravaged by the torrential rains.
Jubbaland State is among the Federal Regional Member States severely impacted by raging flood waters that have uprooted families from their homes and left scores of others dead.
