The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, has officially opened the new building of the Puntland Government Bank branch in the city of Bosaso, the capital of Bari region.
The President praised the progress the Puntland Government Bank is making in various areas, noting that it is now in line with international standards for banks of its kind. He also highlighted that financial matters will not be overlooked despite the current challenges facing the country. As a result, the study for preparing a currency specific to Puntland is underway.
“The Puntland Government has begun the study for creating a currency specific to Puntland, similar to what some federal countries around the world have. This currency will eventually align with Somalia’s financial system when stability and governance are restored,” President Said Abdullahi Deni stated.
The ceremony was attended by Puntland Government officials, Bank officials, Presidential Advisors, the administration of Bari region and Bosaso district, as well as various community representatives from Bosaso.
