Kenyan police said they have foiled an attempted attack on Wajir county headquarters on Tuesday by suspected Al Shabaab members.
One suspect is in custody and gun recovered from him after fire exchange with police near county administration offices.
Two other gunmen are still at large according to inspector general of Kenyan police.
Boinnet said three suspicious men approached the Governor’s office and were ordered to stop by security officials on duty.
“They defied and ran off as police gave chase and arrested one. Shots were fired by police. Search for the other two is ongoing,” said Boinnet in a tweet.
The governor, Ahmed Abdullahi was not in the office at the time of the incident. He was said to be in the capital Nairobi.
Al Shabaab has previously carried out attacks on government installations in Wajir and Mandera.
