Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority Conducts Inspection Visit to Airports in Hirshabelle and Galmudug
The Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), Ahmed Maalin Hassan, today carried out an inspection visit to the airports in Jowhar and Beledweyne within the Hirshabelle State, as well as the Dhusamareb Airport in the Galmudug State, where major construction work is currently underway.
During the visit, Director General Ahmed Macalin was accompanied by a team of engineers from the Authority who took part in assessing the condition and development progress of the airports. The inspection aimed to evaluate infrastructure needs, review ongoing construction work, and identify priority areas for improvement to ensure the airports meet national and international aviation standards.
According to the inspection team, new construction projects are planned to commence soon at some of the airports visited, while the Dhusamareb Airport is already in an advanced stage of construction. The Director General emphasized the importance of modernizing regional airports to enhance connectivity, support economic growth, and strengthen domestic air transport services across Somalia.
He reaffirmed the Somali Civil Aviation Authority’s commitment to improving airport infrastructure nationwide and to working closely with federal member states and development partners in advancing Somalia’s aviation sector through better safety standards, technical oversight, and sustainable infrastructure development.
The visit is part of a broader national effort to revitalize key airports across the country in line with Somalia’s aviation reform and modernization agenda.
