Somalia Immigration Chief Concludes Second Phase of PISCES Training in Mogadishu
The Director General of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mustafa Duhulow, has on Sunday officially closed the second phase of the training program on the PISCES (Personnel Identification Secure Comparison and Evaluation System) held in Mogadishu.
The multi-day training aimed to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of immigration officers in operating the PISCES system, a modern border security and data management platform crucial for strengthening Somalia’s border control and improving immigration services.
During the closing ceremony, certificates were awarded to the participants who successfully completed the course. Director General Mustafa Duhulow commended the officers for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to enhancing their skills in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
He noted that the PISCES training forms part of the government’s broader plan to modernize immigration operations and integrate key border management systems across the country. The Director General emphasized that continuous training and capacity building are vital to ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and security in the country’s border management framework.
“The modernization of our immigration systems is essential for improving national security and facilitating safe and efficient travel. Through initiatives like PISCES, Somalia is taking important steps toward achieving international standards in border management,” said Duhulow.
The PISCES system, developed with support from international partners, enables Somali immigration authorities to collect, verify, and manage traveler information in real time, helping detect irregular movements and prevent security threats.
The Somali Immigration and Nationality Agency has been rolling out the PISCES program across major entry points, including airports and border crossings, as part of efforts to improve coordination, enhance data accuracy, and strengthen national security.
The successful completion of this training marks another milestone in Somalia’s ongoing efforts to professionalize its immigration services and ensure the protection of its borders through technology-driven solutions and well-trained personnel.
