Director General of Mogadishu Port Oversees Operations and Engages with Workers
The Director General of Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), conducted an on-site inspection of various sections of the port as part of his routine operational oversight and engagement with staff.
During his visit, three vessels carrying a variety of goods arrived at the port, with unloading operations managed by port machinery, personnel, and hundreds of Somali laborers. The coordinated effort highlighted the scale, efficiency, and professionalism of the port’s operations.
Speaking during the inspection, Ambassador Americo emphasized the importance of being present among the workers and spending time with both staff and laborers, describing them as the backbone of the port’s daily operations. He noted that their dedication is essential to the growth of services, operational efficiency, and the visible progress the port has achieved in recent years.
“The workforce, from dock laborers to administrative staff, plays a critical role in ensuring that goods are handled efficiently and that services to the Somali people are delivered effectively,” said Ambassador Americo.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by the port’s leadership to maintain accountability, monitor operational processes, and strengthen engagement between management and frontline workers at Mogadishu Port, which remains a key hub for trade and economic activity in Somalia.
