Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, Commander of the Somali National Army, conducted an inspection visit to the TURKSOM Military Training Academy in Mogadishu to assess the overall situation at the institution and review the progress of ongoing military training programs.
During the visit, the army chief toured different sections of the academy and observed the training activities being undertaken by various units of the Somali National Army. Officials at the academy briefed him on the structure of the training programs and the readiness of the soldiers currently undergoing instruction.
While at the academy, the commander also presided over the closing ceremony of a sports tournament organized to mark the holy month of Ramadan. The tournament brought together trainees from different classes within the academy and aimed to strengthen unity, teamwork, and morale among the soldiers.
The final match of the tournament was played between teams representing the first-year and third-year classes. After a competitive game, the first-year team emerged victorious and was awarded the championship.
At the conclusion of his visit, the Somali army chief joined officer trainees for an iftar meal at the academy. He praised both the trainers and the new recruits for their dedication and continuous efforts in strengthening the capabilities of the Somali National Army.
The visit highlights ongoing efforts to enhance professional military training and build a stronger national force capable of addressing security challenges across Somalia.
