Somalia and Saudi Arabia sign military cooperation agreement

Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has signed a military cooperation agreement with the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Khalid bin Salman.

The new agreement is aimed at further strengthening defence and military cooperation between the two countries, covering areas of mutual interest including military training, defence equipment, and cooperation in modern security and defence technologies.

Saudi Arabia is among Somalia’s key partners in supporting counterterrorism efforts and enhancing internal security. This agreement forms part of broader efforts to deepen strategic cooperation between Mogadishu and Riyadh, while contributing to the development and capacity-building of Somalia’s national defence forces.

The signing of the agreement reflects the growing bilateral relations between Somalia and Saudi Arabia and underscores their shared commitment to regional security, stability, and joint efforts to combat security threats.
