Offices of the auditor general of somalia and turkey conclude financial investigation training program in Ankara

The offices of the auditor general of the federal government of somalia and the republic of turkey have officially concluded a financial investigation training program in ankara, marking another milestone in strengthening institutional cooperation and capacity building between the two countries.

The closing ceremony was attended by the president of the turkish court of accounts, two of his deputies, and the deputy head of the turkish cooperation and coordination agency (tika). The federal government of somalia was represented by a delegation led by the deputy auditor general, mr. abdijamal ismail.

The training program focused on enhancing professional skills in financial investigation, audit techniques, and oversight mechanisms, aiming to strengthen transparency, accountability, and good governance within public financial management systems. Throughout the program, somali auditors benefited from practical sessions, technical exchanges, and exposure to international best practices applied by turkey’s supreme audit institutions.

On the sidelines of the training, bilateral meetings were held between the leadership of the office of the auditor general of somalia, the turkish court of accounts, and tika. These discussions centered on deepening cooperation, sharing expertise, and expanding institutional partnerships to further support capacity development initiatives for somalia’s oversight institutions.

Tika reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting the office of the auditor general of the federal government of somalia, highlighting the importance of sustained technical assistance and knowledge transfer in strengthening public sector accountability. In turn, the deputy auditor general expressed his appreciation to the turkish court of accounts and the government of turkey for their hospitality, collaboration, and continued support.

At the conclusion of the program, participants who successfully completed the training were awarded certificates, underscoring the program’s success and its significance in advancing financial investigation capabilities and institutional effectiveness within somalia’s audit sector.
