Afmadow Police Arrest Suspects Involved in Illegal Hunting and Wildlife Trade

Police forces in Afmadow District have arrested several individuals accused of engaging in the illegal hunting and trade of wildlife, despite earlier warnings to stop activities that harm the environment and local wildlife.

Authorities said the suspects were involved in the unlawful killing of wild animals, an act that poses a serious threat to biodiversity and the overall ecosystem. Officials noted that clear directives had previously been issued banning environmental degradation and calling for strict action against the destruction of wildlife and natural resources.

The Governor of Afmadow District and Mayor of the town, Abdirahman Macallin Ali (Xaaji-Maaji), confirmed that the arrests were carried out during a planned security operation conducted by local police forces. He said the suspects will be promptly handed over to judicial authorities to face legal action in accordance with the law.

Governor Haaji-Maaji also urged residents of Afmadow District and surrounding areas to play an active role in protecting wildlife and preventing environmental degradation. He called on the public to cooperate closely with security agencies to safeguard the country’s natural resources for future generations.

Local authorities reiterated their commitment to enforcing environmental protection laws and taking firm action against anyone involved in activities that threaten wildlife and the environment.
