Jubbaland Military Court Executes Soldier Convicted of Killing Fellow Officer
Execution follows a protracted trial over a murder incident in the Jubbaland Presidential Guard.
The Military Court of Jubbaland today carried out a death sentence against Aden Ibrahim Ahmed Macow, a soldier formerly serving in the Jubbaland Presidential Guard, following his conviction for the murder of his colleague Abdifataax Omar Sharif.
The incident occurred on June 24, 2025, after a dispute between the two soldiers reportedly began over a pair of military boots. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Aden Ibrahim fatally stabbed his colleague.
According to official reports, the case was thoroughly investigated, and the Jubbaland Military Court held three separate hearings before reaching a final verdict. The court sentenced Aden Ibrahim to execution under the principle of Qisas, or retributive justice, for the killing of Cabdifataax Omar Sharif.
Today, the sentence was fully executed in a ceremony attended by officials from Jubbaland’s security and justice sectors. Colonel Ismail Abdi Ali, the prosecutor of the Jubbaland Military Court, confirmed to the media that the execution was carried out lawfully and in accordance with established legal procedures.
The execution comes as part of Jubbaland’s broader efforts to strengthen the rule of law within its security forces. The administration has repeatedly emphasized that criminal acts committed by members of the armed forces will not be tolerated and that all personnel are accountable to the law.
This development marks a notable step by the Jubbaland authorities in enforcing discipline within the ranks of the military and safeguarding public confidence in military justice procedures.
