The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, has arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, to participate in the 39th African Union (AU) Summit, which is set to officially open tomorrow at the AU Headquarters.

During the summit, the Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various African countries as well as international partners. The discussions will focus on advancing Somalia’s key national priorities, particularly in the areas of peace and security, regional cooperation, and sustainable development.

This year’s AU Summit is being held under the theme: “Ensuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of the African Union Agenda 2063.” The theme highlights the strategic importance of water security and sanitation as fundamental pillars for sustainable development, public health, and long-term prosperity across the African continent.

Somalia’s participation in the high-level gathering reflects its continued commitment to strengthening engagement within the African Union framework and contributing to collective efforts aimed at promoting stability, resilience, and inclusive growth throughout Africa.
