President Hassan Sheikh appoints Dr. Yahya Ibrahim as Chief Policy Advisor at the Presidency
Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has named Dr. Yahya Ibrahim Maalin as Chief Policy Advisor and Coordinator of Presidential Policy Programs. Dr. Yahya, a former UK lecturer with extensive experience in governance, conflict resolution and state building, is expected to strengthen national policy development and improve strategic coordination across the Presidency.
Somalia President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has appointed Dr. Yahya Ibrahim Maalin as the Chief Policy Advisor and Coordinator of Presidential Policy Programs at the Office of the President.
Dr. Yahya, who previously served as a university lecturer in the United Kingdom, brings extensive experience in political affairs, state building, academic research, international relations, conflict resolution, economic development and the preparation of future leaders.
He has worked for years on initiatives aimed at resolving violent conflicts and holds advanced degrees, including a Master’s and a PhD, from the University of Northampton and the University of Birmingham in the UK.
President Hassan Sheikh noted that he expects Dr. Yahya to play a significant role in strengthening national policy development and advancing strategic priorities. He emphasized that major government decisions must be grounded in evidence, research and a realistic understanding of Somalia’s unique context.
The President added that Dr. Yahya’s new role will support coherent policy coordination, reinforce institutional alignment and contribute to the clarity and unity of purpose within the Office of the President as Somalia continues to push forward its governance and reform agenda.
