Hirshabelle regional parliament is set to have a session to discuss what a section of MPs claims to be lack of consultation in recent appointments.
“The President has appointed a committee of five persons who come under him without the parliament’s approval. He also appointed army commanders without the suggestion of Security Minister†Said MP Gelle Warsame.
“The constitution says that it’s the Minister who suggests army commanders for appointments and thereafter the President appoints them. In this case, the Minister, his Assistant and the parliament are not aware of the appointments. It’s like everything he wants is in his handbag and will only have to take it out for use†said Mr. Warsame.
The MP made serious allegations of the appointment of non-Somalia nationals in regional government.
“Among the members of the Security Committee are people who are not from Hirshabelle and don’t know anything about it. One of the members is a Kenyan. We could not understand the appointment of a committee with a Kenyan as a member and he is saying it’s a security committee†he said.
“I feel bad about that and I know we will be asked that question. The former President was impeached for no reason and I feel very bad for the public to think negative about us for fighting the one whom we elected who becomes bad. The elected man doesn’t want the constitution. He does whatever comes to his mind†added Mr. Warsame.
Mohamed Abdi Ware was elected President in October 2017 to replace Former regional President Ali Abdullahi Osoble who was impeached in August.
