Somalia President on Monday landed in the flood-hit Hiraan regions administrative capital Beledweyne  to assess the current humanitarian disaster that followed after River Shabelle bursts  its banks.
Farmaajo was hosted by Hirshabelle regional President Mohamed Ware and visited families displaced by the floods that have continued in the last one week.
“The President has inspected areas that were highly affected by the flooding and camps for the IDPs displaced following the torrential rains. He asked the governor of the region, leaders of Hirshabelle regional administration, the elite to come up with ways to overcome recurrent flooding” Villa Somalia tweeted.
Farmaajo called for concerted efforts between the newly formed national response committee, aid agencies and regional administrations to ensure humanitarian assistance reaches all flood victims.
FAO Somalia on Monday said more rain has been forecast in the coming 7 days hence more floods expected.
More than 427000 Somalis have been affected by the current floods.
