Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo on Tuesday commissioned the construction of a modern port facility in the Galmudug coastal town of Hobyo.
Galmudug President Ahmed Haaf and top government officials were present at the ground breaking ceremony.
A Chinese construction firm won the contract to upgrade the port.
The multimillion project is the biggest to be implemented in Galmudug state and will be a major boost to the infrastructure and economy  of the region.
Farmaajo arrived in Hobyo Tuesday morning in the last leg of his “Reconciliation Tour”
