Officials at Aden Adde International Airport confirmed that the aircraft were withdrawn following inspections that revealed potential faults posing risks to passengers. Operators will only be allowed to resume flights once their aircraft have undergone comprehensive maintenance verification and met all safety standards set by the authority.
In a statement released on Wednesday, February 18, the Counter Terrorism Policing unit revealed that the operation was the result of months of intense surveillance and covert intelligence gathering on a terror network operating within the Dadaab refugee camps. The intelligence-led operation led to the recovery of a cache of weapons, including 600 bullets, pistols, grenades, and explosives. Authorities also seized drugs that were linked to the plot.
