An unknown number of soldiers have been killed and many other injured after the UAE trained troops clashed with Somalia National Army at the General Gordan barrack in Mogadishu, Radio Dalsan reports.
The UAE trained soldiers are said to have tried to break into the armory of the barracks some minutes after noon on Monday.
“We have been hearing shooting in the last forty minutes from the UAE barracks(sic). It is intense” Muse Hussein a resident near the barrack told Radio Dalsan.
SNA was deployed to the barracks to quell the situation resulting to the shooting between the two government troops.
According to a security at least 40 to 50 UAE trained soldiers surrendered to the SNA and were arrested.
“I have seen seen tens of UAE-trained soldiers raising their hands in surrender” a Somalia Military officer told Radio Dalsan
On Saturday the barrack was officially handed over to the Defense Ministry after Abu Dhabi disbanded it´s military training last week following the latest diplomatic spat between the two countries .
