Somalia Federal Parliament Deputy Speaker Abdiweli Mudey and the Second Deputy Speaker Mahad Awad have publicly differed over the date of the impeachment of Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari.

The two held separate press conferences in the capital Mogadishu.

Mudey announced to reporters that the impeachment motion is set for next Saturday.

A few hours later Awad issued a press release contracting Mudey.

Awad says he is against the 31 March date given by Mudey.

He farther said Mudey was no the bonafide “Acting Chairman” of a committee overseeing the motion.

This latest twist has thrown the motion into confusion.

A ten day deadline  for the anti-Jawari Mps to present their signatories to Parliament had almost elapsed and Senate on Wednesday seek intervention from President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to set a new date.

Lobbying over the motion is still ongoing with anti-Jawari Mps seeking to attain more signatories the vote of no confidence.

184 Mps are required to oust Jawari, a tall order by any standard.

Anti-Jawari Mps accuse him of being impediment in Parliamentary procedures.

Jawari on Saturday met with Amisom officials seeking the African Union peace keepers to be in charge of security at the venue of the vote.

The vote is widely seen as a political  bout between Jawari and Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire.
