Hundreds of Mandhera county residents took streets mainly students and local officials to demonstrate their anger towards recent Al-shabaab threats in the region following massive killings carried out by the group in the last four months.
The demonstration which lasted six hours asked Kenyan government heads to replace security officials serving in Mandhera. The county’s security has been worsening and more than 6 people were killed during a short period of time.
The Mandhera governor Alex Ole Nkoyo were alleged of failing to address rising insecurity threats in the county and the Kenya border along Somalia despite Al-shabab continue to cross border and kill people repetitively.
“People in here will not stop protesting until the government is ousting current security officials in our region. In fact Alex Ole Nkoyo has botched to maintain security threats “residents said.
