A survey conducted by United Nations Population Fund (UNFP) has revealed that there are more than 12.3 population in Somalia.
The survey was carried out across 18 provinces in the country and a total of 250,000 households were interviewed during the process.
The questions were mainly based on demographics, social and economic factors.
According to the survey 42 percent of the population live in urban area, 23 percent in rural area, 9 percent in internally displaced camps and 26 percent nomadic population.
The last population census in Somalia was conducted in 1985/86 but no results were released though limited results were released in 1975 census.
Analyst say this latest UNFPA census result is significant as the country is preparing for general elections come 2016 and will also help government and international humanitarian organizations in planning.
